About NUSOD

The International Conference on Numerical Simulation of Optoelectronic Devices (NUSOD) is an annual international conference dedicated to the modelling and numerical simulation of optoelectronic and photonic devices.

Since its first edition in 2001, NUSOD has provided a forum where researchers, engineers, software developers, and device physicists can exchange ideas, present new modelling approaches, and discuss advances in the simulation of optoelectronic devices and systems.

Scope

NUSOD covers a broad range of topics related to the numerical modelling and simulation of optoelectronic and photonic devices, including:

  • semiconductor lasers and optical amplifiers;
  • light-emitting diodes and displays;
  • photodetectors and photovoltaic devices;
  • integrated photonic devices and circuits;
  • nanophotonic and plasmonic structures;
  • quantum and emerging optoelectronic devices;
  • optical materials and material modelling;
  • multiphysics and multiscale simulation;
  • numerical methods and computational techniques;
  • device-level modelling for photonic and optoelectronic systems.

The conference particularly encourages contributions that connect advances in device physics with new numerical methods, simulation techniques, and practical design tools.

A Forum for the Optoelectronic Modelling Community

NUSOD brings together participants from universities, research institutes, and industry from around the world.

The relatively focused scope of the conference is intended to encourage technical discussion and direct interaction between researchers working on different aspects of optoelectronic device modelling.

The scientific programme typically includes invited and contributed oral presentations, poster sessions, and opportunities for discussion on emerging topics in the field.

History

NUSOD has been held annually since 2001 in locations across Europe, Asia, North America, and Australia, as well as online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over more than two decades, the conference has followed the evolution of optoelectronic device simulation, from semiconductor laser modelling and traditional optoelectronic components to integrated photonics, nanophotonics, quantum technologies, and increasingly complex multiphysics simulation.

Organization

NUSOD is organized by an international community of researchers active in optoelectronic device modelling and simulation.

The long-term scientific direction and continuity of the conference are supported by the NUSOD Steering Committee, while each edition is organized in collaboration with a local organizing team and an international programme committee.

NUSOD is technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Photonics Society.
